
Clarence Gayle (1866 – 1948) Gayle operated a precision instrument shop at 514 Logan Street specializing in custom, handcrafted fishing reels and inexpensive machine-made reels. During WWII the Gayle shop fulfilled several government contracts including parts for the atomic bombs dropped on Japan. The Gayle Company remained in business until the late 1980s.
