Ruth Booe (1891 – 1973) Ruth Hanly Booe and Rebecca Gooch began selling their now famous candies in 1919. When Rebecca opted for marriage in 1929 she withdrew from the partnership and Ruth went on to become famous as the originator of chocolate bourbon balls and other delicious confections.
